| SECOND SKIN/SANIDERM STYLE BANDAGE AFTERCARE GUIDE In the first 24 hours, there may be a build up of plasma under the bandage. This is completely normal. Leave the bandage on for 2 days (48 hours). If the bandage peels up and any of the tattoo is exposed to the air, take the bandage off. Once you remove the bandage, keep your tattoo clean by washing 3-5 times a day with foaming anti-bacterial soap, pat dry with a clean paper towel, and add a thin layer of unscented lotion. REMOVAL Peel up an edge or corner of the bandage. If this proves difficult, you can attach medical tape to the corner of the film to help lift it. Slowly pull the film off. Do not pull it straight up away from the skin. Instead, pull the film back and across the skin while holding your skin taut. You may experience some redness around the tattoo where the bandage was applied to the un-tattooed skin. This is also completely normal and may occur with any type of medical adhesive. If you do develop an adverse reaction on the tattoo, discontinue use immediately. Carefully remove the bandage, wash your hand thoroughly with foaming anti-bacterial/anti-microbial handsoap and then wash the tattoo off with the same foaming handsoap. Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel, then apply a very thin layer of unscented lotion to the tattoo. Do not apply too much, as this could cause scabbing and adverse healing! Continue to wash/lotion 3-5 times a day for 1-3 weeks. You will experience some flakey skin and patches of shiny/silver looking skin. This is completely normal! You should NOT be having any scabbing or “chunky” healing areas. If you do, try to wash gently and use a little less lotion (please call/email the artist as well and get their advice!). Your tattoo should be fully healed in 3-6 weeks!
